The Virginia Space Grant Consortium is now offering an online alternative to our summer programs.
2020 Pathways Flight Academies
Are you a high school student interested in becoming a commercial airline pilot? Five, twelve-day residential academies will be offered during the summer of 2020 for selected students who have shown an interest in and passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) and have career aspirations to become a commercial pilot.
VSGC Summer Programs
Summers at the Virginia Space Grant Consortium are busy. Our high school programs, which offer an online component, are very popular and run throughout the summer. The videos above show a glimpse of the week-long summer academies for three of our high school programs; VASTS, VESSS and Virginia Space Coast Scholars.
BLAST at Virginia Tech
At the Virginia Tech session of BLAST (Building Leaders for Advancing Science and Technology), eighth and ninth graders learned about groundwater hydrology, volcanic hazards, physics, civil and environmental engineering, biomechanics and coding.

VSGC Innovative Projects 2019
VSGC supports a number of Innovative Projects every year for both K-12 and Higher Education projects. This year, 12 awards were made totaling over $80,000.
Faculty Professional Development Workshop
Nineteen Virginia community college faculty completed the STEM Takes Flight Professional Development workshop at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s Wallops Flight Facility.
Technology Exploration Saturdays
The final Technology Exploration Saturday was held at NASA Langley this weekend. Peninsula middle school students and parents competed to design and build penny haulers and robotic arms.
VESSS Wins Programs That Work Award
VESSS (Virginia Earth System Science Scholars) recently won a Programs That Work Award from the Virginia Mathematics and Science Coalition (VMSC).
