The activities, as well as career planning sessions for parents, are hosted at Virginia Peninsula Community College, Canon Virginia, and NASA Langley Research Center.

Series Description
Technology Exploration Saturdays offers a three-part series of hands-on STEM activities designed for 7th and 8th-grade students and families in the Peninsula area. This unique opportunity allows participants to dive into interactive sessions, workshops, and career planning resources, hosted at Virginia Peninsula Community College, Canon Virginia, and NASA Langley Research Center.
Virginia Peninsula Community College
- Explore information technology, mechatronics, networking, and the fascinating world of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS, or Drones). Engage in interactive sessions and activities guided by experienced presenters from various industries.
Canon Virginia
- Dive into fiber optics, lasers, electronic circuits, and automation utilized in manufacturing. Interact with engineering technologists and gain insights into potential career pathways.
NASA Langley Research Center
- Immerse yourself in the captivating universe of NASA through engaging hands-on STEM activities and presentations by NASA Subject Matter Experts. Discover NASA’s exciting Artemis program and the future of space exploration.
Eligibility
This experience is open to 7th and 8th grade students from Peninsula area school divisions, including Williamsburg-James City County, York County, Hampton, Gloucester County, Newport News, Isle of Wight, and Poquoson.
To participate, students must be U.S. citizens and submit an application signed by a parent/guardian through their respective teachers.
