We have a number of K-12 programs available to the public. They include Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars, Virginia Earth System Science Scholars, Virginia Space Coast Scholars, Building Leaders for Advancing Science and Technology and Technology Saturdays.

VASTS
VASTS - Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars.

The Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars (VASTS) program is an interactive on-line science, technology, engineering and mathematics learning experience, highlighted by a seven-day residential summer academy at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va. Students selected to participate in the program are immersed in NASA-related research through interaction with scientists, engineers and technologists. Click here for more information about VASTS.

VESSS
VESSS - Virginia Earth System Science Scholars.

The Virginia Earth System Science Scholars (VESSS) program is an interactive on-line science, technology, engineering and mathematics learning experience for Virginia high school juniors and seniors, highlighted by a seven-day residential summer academy at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. Students selected to participate in the program are immersed in NASA-related research, focusing on the Earth’s responses to changes to climate, weather and natural hazards, through interaction with scientists, engineers, and technologists.  Find out more about VESSS here.

Virginia Space Coast Scholars
Virginia Space Coast Scholars.

The Virginia Space Coast Scholars (VSCS) is a program for High School Sophomores focusing on the science, engineering, and technology integral to current missions at NASA Wallops Flight Facility and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport. This dynamic (and FREE) program, designed by the Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC), inspires students who  possess technical and/or scientific interests and are motivated to learn about the many different opportunities that NASA offers. Building Leaders for Advancing Science and Technology, 2017

The Building Leaders for Advancing Science and
Technology (BLAST) program offers an exciting, on-campus summer experience for 8th and 9th graders designed to increase student interest and curiosity in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Faculty members lead hands-on activities and demonstrations that seek to motivate and inspire students for STEM studies and careers. Find our more on our BLAST website or Facebook page.

Pathways Flight Academies

Pathways Flight Academies offers flight academies for selected high school students statewide in response to the looming national shortage of airline pilots and the growing need for aviation maintenance technicians and air traffic controllers Find out about our 2019 program here.

Technology Saturdays, 2018

Technology Exploration Saturdays offers a three-part series of hands-on STEM activities for Peninsula-area 7th and 8th grade students. The activities, as well as career planning sessions for parents, are hosted at Thomas Nelson Community College, Canon Virginia and NASA Langley Research Center.
