Building Leaders for Advancing Science and Technology (BLAST) is a free program designed to provide Virginia’s 8th and 9th-grade students with hands-on STEM experiences. Over the course of three days, students without STEM experience will stay in college dormitories and explore dynamic STEM activities.

The program is tailored to ignite curiosity and foster interest in students who have a passion for STEM but have not yet had the opportunity to explore it. By offering access to high-quality, immersive STEM experiences, BLAST creates opportunities that may not have been otherwise available, helping students discover and pursue their path in STEM.

BLAST is a collaborative initiative supported by the Virginia Space Grant Consortium, Old Dominion University, Radford University, the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, William & Mary, and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
