Application Instructions

1. REGISTER to use the application system


  • You will only need to register once per year. This step is required to use the application system for the Virginia Space Grant Consortium programs.
  • Go to the application and click the gray New User Registration button.
  • Fill in your name and non-school email address, then click REGISTER.
  • An email will automatically be sent to you that contains a password and next steps.

2. CHECK YOUR EMAIL and copy the password sent to you from you will use this password the first time you log in.



  • Return to the application and log in with the password you received via email.
  • Click Change Password to create a password that you can easily remember.
  • You are now viewing the student portion of the application package and may begin work on your application.

4. SAVE OR SUBMIT,  depending on your progress.


  • Save your progress frequently; changes will be lost after 60 minutes of no activity. Do not click on submit until you have answered all required prompts.
  • You may save, leave, and return to your application as often as you wish before the due date.
  • When you have filled in all required sections and are ready to turn in your portion of the application package, click Submit Application at the top of the screen.
  • Check your email and verify that you have received confirmation that your application has been submitted. Note that your application is not complete.
  • When you submit, your recommender and counselor immediately receive an email requesting they complete a form on your behalf. Please let them know this email comes from; they may need to check their spam or junk folder. Both forms must be received by their due date to complete your application. It is the student’s responsibility to follow up with supporters and make sure the documents are submitted on time. You may change who you requested as a recommender by updating your application.



  • Your application is incomplete until all supporting documents are confirmed through the application system. You will receive an email from when each item is received, and another email that confirms the application is complete. Incomplete applications cannot be considered for selection, so check your email frequently to be sure  you are aware of all updates and notifications related to the BLAST program. These may come from the application system or the BLAST Coordinator.
  • All applicants will be notified of their selection status by the end of March.
