The annual VSGC Student Research Conference showcases student scholars from UVA, Virginia Tech, ODU, William and Mary and Hampton University. It is a day devoted to STEM research and celebration of our student research scholars accomplishments.

VSGC Student Research Conference

In 2018, 34 Graduate Research Fellows and 11 Undergraduate Scholars presented the results of their research at the annual Student Research Conference held at the Ted Constant Center at ODU.


Graduate Fellows delivered ten-minute oral presentations followed by five-minute question and answer sessions. These presentations were organized around research areas such as Aerospace, Structures and Materials, Applied Physics, Astrophysics/Planetary Science, Applied Science and more.


Undergraduate Scholars provided poster presentations to attendees during two thirty-minute sessions


A luncheon was held to honor the Scholars and Fellows during the conference. Speakers included ODU President John Broderick, Virginia Secretary of Education Atif Qarni, ODU Professor Ben Hamlington and Virginia Tech President Tim Sands.


The Student Research Conference has highlighted the Scholars and Fellows research annually since 2005.
